HIMSS Medical Banking Project is a civil society organization that helps financial institutions and health care organizations to form dynamic, efficient and sustainable partnerships that improve global health using "medical banking" principles. We foster the advancement of an efficient, consumer-centric and global healthcare financial network using an industry leading and neutral educational platform. We target reduced paper in payment channels (via "green technology"), real time payment processing, health-wealth programs that include consumer-driven healthcare, linking online banking to health portals for consumer convenience, mHealth and other areas. Privacy and security of health data is central to our effort (see Gold Seal). Our educational centerpiece is the National Medical Banking Institute. We recently merged our volunteer committee (Advisory Council) with HIMSS Financial Systems to provide a robust educational and industry action program for our members.
